Small Businesses Endorse Beth Van Duyne

Date: June 18, 2020

AUSTIN, Texas (June 18, 2020) — The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, endorsed Beth Van Duyne today on behalf of Texas small businesses for election to the United States House of Representatives to represent Texas’ 24th Congressional District.

“As mayor of Irving, Beth Van Duyne witnessed firsthand the impact small businesses have on the local economy,” said Annie Spilman, NFIB’s Texas State Director. “She has been a pillar in her community and is a firm believer in the entrepreneurial spirit. Beth’s experience both in the public and private sectors has given her a unique perspective – one we know will make her a strong advocate of small businesses from day one in Congress. On behalf of small businesses in Texas’ 24th Congressional District, we are proud to endorse Beth Van Duyne for election to the U.S. House of Representatives.”

Beth Van Duyne is a former councilwoman and the first female mayor of Irving, Texas. She served most recently as a regional administrator for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s southwest region, which includes Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Louisiana, and Arkansas.

Among Van Duyne’s legislative priorities are deregulation and making the provisions in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, including the Small Business Deduction, permanent.

“Beth Van Duyne has demonstrated a true understanding of the challenges and priorities of small businesses,” said NFIB National Political Director Sharon Sussin. “Thanks to her strong background, we are certain that Beth will continue to be a champion for small businesses in Texas and beyond.”

Van Duyne’s endorsement today comes from NFIB FedPAC, the organization’s political action committee. NFIB FedPAC is funded by NFIB member donations above membership dues. Decisions made by NFIB FedPAC are managed by a member driven grassroots evaluation process. Small business owners are influential in their communities and NFIB members in Texas will work hard to elect Beth Van Duyne to Congress.
