TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Oct. 16, 2020) — The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, endorsed Carlos Gimenez today for election to represent Florida’s 26th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives.
“Carlos Gimenez has a proven record of leading positive change in South Florida,” said Bill Herrle, NFIB’s Florida State Director. “As mayor, he balanced Miami-Dade County’s budget every year he served without raising taxes on taxpayers. Gimenez is committed to bringing his strong business acumen to Congress and will work hard to lift unnecessary regulations on small businesses and make small business tax relief permanent. He is the clear choice to represent Florida’s small businesses in the 26th Congressional District, and we are proud to endorse him.”
Carlos Gimenez is a retired firefighter and current Mayor of Miami-Dade County, FL, elected in 2011 in a special election. Previously, he served as a Miami-Dade County Commissioner from 2003-2011 and the fire chief of the Miami Fire Department.
“We have no doubt that, given his background, Carlos Gimenez will be a dedicated ally for small businesses in Congress,” said NFIB National Political Director Sharon Sussin. “We are pleased to endorse Carlos Gimenez today, and we look forward to working with him in Congress.”
Carlos Gimenez’s endorsement today comes from NFIB FedPAC, the organization’s political action committee. NFIB FedPAC is funded by NFIB member donations above membership dues. Decisions made by NFIB FedPAC are managed by a member-driven grassroots evaluation process. Small business owners are influential in their communities and NFIB members in Florida will work hard to elect Carlos Gimenez to Congress.
