NFIB/CA Releases Statement About Veto of Senate Bill 251

Date: October 12, 2015

Tom Scott, NFIB/CA State Director, issued the following
statement today in response to Governor Jerry Brown vetoing Senate Bill 251
(Roth).

“We are disappointed that Governor Brown vetoed Senate Bill
251, which we considered to be a balanced approach in providing access for the
disabled to businesses, while making sure that businesses are not hit with
shakedown lawsuits unnecessarily. The legislation made it through both the
Assembly and Senate with bipartisan support, and provided a 15 day correction
period for small businesses.”

“We understand the Governor’s concern about additional
spending in the form of tax credits, but we would encourage Senator Roth to
reintroduce this legislation minus the tax credits next year.”
