NFIB/CA Releases Statement About Veto of Assembly Bill 465

Date: October 12, 2015

Tom Scott,
NFIB/CA State Director issued the following statement today on the veto of
Assembly Bill 465 by Governor Jerry Brown.

“NFIB/CA is pleased that Governor Brown has vetoed Assembly
Bill 465 by Assemblyman Hernandez. AB 465 would have driven up costs and
encouraged litigation against businesses of all sizes. Small businesses would
have been hit the hardest and would have had to spend valuable resources on
attorney’s fees to defend themselves.”

“AB 465 directly contradicted recent rulings by both the
California and United States Supreme courts, making this bill unnecessary and
open to legal challenges, costing the state even more money.”
