WV Small Businesses Thank Sen. Manchin for Vote Disapproving Vaccine Mandate

Date: December 13, 2021

NFIB West Virginia thanks Sen. Joe Manchin for his “yes” vote in passing a resolution last week disapproving the Biden Administration’s vaccine and testing mandate. The U.S. Senate passed the resolution 52-48 with Senator Manchin’s support.

“Senator Manchin made the right decision for small business owners with his vote last week,” said Gil White, NFIB West Virginia State Director. “We urge Senator Manchin to continue to advocate for small businesses and reject the Build Back Better Act, which would increase taxes on small businesses, something they simply cannot afford.”

NFIB announced the Senate resolution would be considered an NFIB Key Vote for the 117th Congress. NFIB’s voting records are nationally recognized as the national standard for determining who truly advocates for small business owners.

“Small business owners depend on the freedom to decide how to run their business and the Biden Administration’s ETS is an unprecedented intrusion to that freedom,” said Kevin Kuhlman, NFIB Vice President of Federal Government Relations. “The small business economy remains fragile as owners manage several challenges such as staffing shortages and supply chain disruptions while doing their part to end the COVID-19 pandemic. These challenges would be exacerbated by the ETS.”

NFIB filed a legal challenge against the Biden Administration’s emergency temporary standard, which would mandate businesses with 100 or more employees require workers get the COVID-19 vaccine or undergo weekly testing and wear masks while at work.
