PA DEP Pollution Prevention Grants Still Available

Date: August 31, 2018

Meant for businesses with less than 100 employees

DEP’s Small Business Advantage Grant is now open and accepting applications for energy efficiency, pollution and waste prevention, and natural resource protection measures.

To be eligible, applicants must be a registered Pennsylvania-based small business with 100 or fewer FT employees. They are granted to help fund projects that involve installing energy efficiency and pollution prevention projects. The grant must save the small business a minimum of $500.00 and at least 25% annually in energy consumption or pollution/waste related expenses. Natural resource protection projects are exempt from the minimum savings requirement; however, the project must quantify the reduction of nitrogen, phosphorus and sediment loadings reaching the receiving waterway.

So far, DEP’s Small Business Ombudsman’s Office has received and approved applications from doctors, chiropractors, manufacturers, and retail and commercial establishments.  Projects have included LED lighting upgrades, more efficient HVAC and boiler replacements, digital X-Ray systems, compressors, evaporators, and APUs for long-haul trucks.

From the agricultural community, applications have been approved for upgrades to manure storage facilities, improvements to concentrated feeding areas, and installation of exclusionary streambank fencing projects.

For more information on the grant and how to apply, please visit the Small Business Advantage Grant website. Apply promptly because the grants are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
