Rauner: 'I Need Your Help' (Video)

Gov. Bruce Rauner asked small-business owners for their support during a speech at this year’s Employer Action Day luncheon, held April 12 at the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel in Springfield.

“You know, people think right now in Illinois we’re really fighting about a budget,” he said. “What it really is about is the future of Illinois.”

Rauner said, “I need your help. Somewhere in the coming months, things are going to come to a head.” He asked small-business owners to contact their local legislators and ask them to support his Turnaround Agenda.

“Get the pressure going. Get the message out.”

Employer Action Day was hosted by NFIB/Illinois, the Illinois Chamber of Commerce and Associated Builders & Contractors Illinois.

Over 150 Illinois employers got a firsthand update on what is going on at the Capitol. Besides the governor, speakers included Senate President John Cullerton and Senate GOP Leader Christine Radogno.

As well, several experts were on hand to discuss key issues like U.S. Department of Labor regulations that impact businesses, changes to our unemployment insurance laws, and breakout sessions on prevailing wage, transportation, and tax issues.
