ZipRecruiter Finds Phoenix Hiring Active In August
According to a new ZipRecruiter survey, Phoenix is the fourth-busiest city in terms of hiring for August. The survey looks at current active jobs across the US as well as new job postings in key industries including construction, education, finance, health care, food services and accommodation, manufacturing, retail, and warehousing. According to the survey, Phoenix returns to the top 10 US cities for hiring in August after several slower months, but is behind three California cities for the month, with Los Angeles, San Diego, and Riverside all having more active job markets. However, Phoenix’s August showing outperforms that of other major cities including Miami, Dallas, Tampa, Seattle, and Pittsburgh. Nationwide, ZipRecruiter predicted especially strong hiring growth in the hospitality sector, with education services also seeing strong hiring due to a growing shortage of teachers. Warehousing and storage, which includes jobs at Amazon fulfillment centers, is also expected to have strong growth for the month.
What This Means For Small Businesses
Phoenix-area small business owners are seeking reassurance that their city’s economy is strong and that the city remains a small business-friendly place. News that hiring in Phoenix is happening at a faster pace than almost anywhere else in the US this month is a good indicator that the city’s economic expansion continues. However, the city has a long way to go to become known as a small business destination.
