December meeting resulted in only a little progress.
When Gov. Bruce Rauner met with leaders of the legislature’s major caucuses during the first week of December, the group made a few steps toward cobbling together a state budget.
The meeting, which included Rauner, House Speaker Mike Madigan, Senate President John Cullerton, and Sen. Christine and Radogno and Rep. Jim Durkin, lasted only 90 minutes.
During the meeting, Rauner touted his small business-friendly agenda, which includes reforming the state’s pension system and workers’ compensation insurance.
Lawmakers and the governor planned to huddle again on December 8 this time in Chicago, but again little progress was made.
