NFIB, the nation’s leading small-business association, presented its coveted Guardian of Small Business Award to U.S. Rep. Clay Higgins (3rd District) today in Lafayette.

NFIB State Director Dawn Starns will present the award to Higgins during a brief ceremony at 10:30 a.m. at Rabalais Business Consulting, an NFIB member business at 209 Rue Louis XIV in Lafayette.

The Guardian of Small Business Award is the most prestigious honor that NFIB bestows on members of Congress in recognition of their efforts to support small business issues. Higgins has earned a 100% voting record with NFIB in the 115th Congress (2017-18), siding with small businesses on regulatory and legal reform. He also supported the historic Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which eased the financial pressure on small businesses and made it easier for them to grow and to create jobs.

“Congressman Higgins has been a strong and reliable advocate for Louisiana’s small businesses,” Starns said. “He understands the role small businesses play in our economy and why it’s important to reduce government’s role in their lives.

“On behalf of our members here and throughout the country, I want to thank Congressman Higgins for standing up for small business,” Starns said. “It’s my honor to present him with this Guardian of Small Business Award.”
