Michigan Small Businesses Endorse John James for Election

Date: July 21, 2020

LANSING, Mich. (July 21, 2020) — The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, today endorsed John James for election to the United States Senate.

“When election time rolls around we find that every candidate likes to claim that they are a friend of small business,” said Charlie Owens, NFIB’s Michigan State Director. “However, when Gary Peters served in the Michigan legislature his Small Business Vote Record with NFIB was abysmal. It certainly did not get any better when he went to Washington. We need someone in Congress that has walked in a small business owner’s shoes and not another career politician making election-year promises that never come true.”

John James is a family business owner, Iraq War veteran, and NFIB member.

“We are confident that John James will be a champion for small businesses in Michigan and across the country,” said NFIB National Political Director Sharon Sussin. “He has a strong background and understands firsthand how small businesses operate and the challenges they face every day. We are proud to endorse him today and look forward to working with him in the U.S. Senate.”

John James’ endorsement today comes from NFIB FedPAC, the organization’s political action committee. NFIB FedPAC is funded by NFIB member donations above membership dues. Decisions made by NFIB FedPAC are managed by a member driven grassroots evaluation process. Small business owners are influential in their communities and NFIB members in Michigan will work hard to elect John James to the U.S. Senate.
