NFIB Members Speak at Governor’s News Conference

Date: September 19, 2020

Praise state’s chief executive success in keeping state economically strong during pandemic

Two NFIB members were invited to give their opinions at a September 18 news conference held by Gov. Brad Little for the purpose of providing the COVID-19 information and an update on the state’s economy.

Reported the Idaho Statesman, “Stephanie Camarillo, who owns a Molly Maid residential cleaning franchise in the Treasure Valley, was one of the business owners to speak. She thanked Little for efforts in getting Idahoans back to work, as her business participated in the state’s Return to Work program, which offered money as an incentive. ‘It was just wonderful to be able to honor them (employees) with a paycheck for coming back to work,’ Camarillo said.”

Also speaking at the news conference was Camarillo’s fellow NFIB member Earl Gilmartin. Reported the Idaho Press, “Earl Gilmartin of Commercial Creamery in Jerome said he’s proud his family business is still going strong.”

In a news release issued by the governor, he said, “In nearly all the statewide metrics categories we are seeing encouraging trends. However, our COVID hospitalizations statewide remain too high again to move out of Stage 4. As temperatures start dropping, more transmissible moments will occur in the coming months. A primary reason we are able to achieve this remarkable economic position is because of our personal actions to slow the spread of coronavirus in our communities. I urge Idahoans, please do not let your guard down.”

The news release also details some of Idaho’s very impressive economic numbers relative to other states. Further information can be read on these series of posters and at this Idaho Criteria for Opening Up document.

“I’m very appreciative Stephanie and Earl made time to attend the news conference,” said Suzanne Budge, Idaho state director for NFIB. “There is no one who speaks with more, unquestioned authority on small-business issues than a small-business owner. Both are also members of the NFIB Idaho Leadership Council who urge small-business owners to get involved. I’m also proud that the governor’s people know us to be the go-to voice of Idaho small business.”
