Small CT Businesses Look Forward to Working with Governor-elect Ned Lamont

Date: November 07, 2018

Small, independently-owned companies employ almost half of Connecticut’s workforce

HARTFORD, Nov. 7, 2018 – NFIB, the nation’s leading small business organization, congratulates Governor-elect Ned Lamont on his victory, and looks forward to working with him in Hartford. There are a million small businesses in Connecticut, and they employ about 47-percent of the state’s workforce. In short, small businesses in Connecticut are an economic powerhouse, and their success is critical to the vibrancy of the state’s economy and job creation.

“We congratulate Ned Lamont, and we look forward connecting him with the small and independent businesses across that state when he takes office so he can see what these business owners do every day and understand the issues they face,” said Andrew Markowski, state director of NFIB in Connecticut.

“It is good to know that Governor-elect Lamont has a business background, and NFIB is pleased he has announced he will have a Business Advisory Council,” added Markowski. “We just hope that there is good representation on the Council from smaller, family-owned businesses and entrepreneurs because different size companies face very different challenges.”

NFIB represents small businesses from every industry sector and every part of the state. Its membership includes manufacturing, retail, hospitality, accounting, scientific, creative, sales, and service companies.  This diverse group shares many concerns, such as the cost of doing business, finding qualified employees, higher taxes, labor mandates,  and overly burdensome regulations. NFIB in Connecticut advocates on their behalf at the state legislature.
