Here’s a look at some of the issues we’ll be watching in next year’s legislative session:
Tax Fairness – Tangible Personal Property Tax
At NFIB’s urging, Tennessee is conducting a comprehensive study of the burdensome tangible personal property tax. Lawmakers are expected to review the report later this year and consider potential reforms.
Tax Fairness – Professional Privilege Tax
NFIB continues to push for full repeal of the discriminatory professional privilege tax on attorneys, financial advisers and brokers. Doctors received full relief in 2022.
Bad Bills for Business
Dozens of mandates on small business once again must be defeated, including minimum wage, paid leave, and many more.
The need for skilled labor in the trades and in technology through VoTech vs. traditional four-year college has never been greater. NFIB continues to support enhanced job training and apprenticeship opportunities to help employers find and train the workforce they desperately need.
