Tax relief, workers’ compensation reform top NFIB priorities
The 2020 half of the Nebraska Unicameral Legislature’s two-year session opens January 8 with three priorities for small business
Enacting Meaningful Tax Relief for Small Business
Individuals and small businesses face a significant property tax burden and Nebraska individual and corporate income tax rates are the highest among the states in our region, making our state uncompetitive in retaining existing and attracting new businesses. Nebraska small businesses need meaningful property tax and income tax relief, without simply “shifting” the tax burden between and among taxpayers.
Passing Workers’ Compensation Reform
The state’s small businesses must continue to fight for workers’ compensation reform. Claims information should be made private. That would help discourage trial lawyers from filing unnecessary lawsuits
Stopping Burdensome Labor Law Proposals
Small business must remain diligent in fending off efforts to increase the state’s minimum wage and mandate costly paid sick leave and paid family leave benefits.
