A Message from your NFIB Michigan State Director

If you were unable to attend our 2016 Small Business Day at
the Capitol last week, you missed out on a great program and an uplifting
opportunity to network with your fellow small business owners from around the
state! However, you can download a PDF format copy of the program agenda HERE
and it includes web links to various articles and information talked about at
the event.

Special guests and speakers included the Lieutenant Governor,
the Senate Majority Leader, Speaker of the House and a presentation by the Job
Creators Network (JCN).

The most encouraging message to come out of the meeting is
that Michigan remains an island of economic sanity in an otherwise dysfunctional
national landscape. While state after state has seen the push to mandate $15 an
hour wages and paid leave gain traction – Michigan has held the line on these
big labor backed efforts.

Probably the biggest frustration for small business in
Michigan is that for every positive move forward at the state level, the
federal government seems to take two steps back. It should be no surprise then
that many small business owners are hopeful for a change in the right direction
in the White House this fall.

Thank you to those who participated in our 2016 Small
Business Day at the Capitol and we hope that everyone can make it out next
